Jörg Waschinski, born in 1966 in Berlin, Germany, is a German opera singer. He studied at the Berlin University of the Arts, initially pursuing church music before transitioning to vocal studies. Waschinski's breakthrough came in 1996 when he won the International Johann-Heinrich Schmelzer Competition in Melk and received a special prize at the Federal Singing Competition in Berlin. His career took off with engagements at various opera houses, including the Stadttheater St. Gallen, Bonn Opera, Staatstheater Hannover, and Staatstheater Mainz. Notable roles include the title part in Xerxes by Georg Friedrich Händel, Nerone in Claudio Monteverdi's L’incoronazione di Poppea, and David in Händel’s oratorio Saul. Waschinski was recognized as the Best Newcomer Singer by Opernwelt in 1999/2000. In 2009, he held a solo concert program dedicated to the arias and songs of singer Farinelli. He has also participated in several radio and CD recordings.
