Atticus Ross was born in London, England, on January 16, 1968, and began his electro-dance career in the 1990s with Bomb the Bass. In 1996, he formed the alternative rock band 12 Rounds with his wife Claudia Sarne. His meeting with Trent Reznor at this time was decisive, and Atticus Ross followed him to the United States, where he contributed various tracks to albums by Nine Inch Nails With Teeth (2005), Year Zero (2007), Ghosts I-IV (2008), and The Slip (2008). He has also worked with artists as varied as Grace Jones, Coheed and Cambria and Perry Farrell. In 2010, the Brit composed the score for the film The Book of Eli and collaborated with Trent Reznor on The Social Network, for which the two musicians won the Oscar for Best Film Score. They reunited in 2011 to bring their touch to David Fincher's Millenium, The Men Who Didn't Love Women. The duo was reunited by the director in 2014 for Gone Girl. 2015 sees Atticus Ross collaborate with Harry Gregson-Williams and his brother Leopold Ross on the Michael Mann-directed Blackhat. In the following years, the Londoner worked on numerous series for AMC, HBO and Netflix, on the likes of Fear the Walking Dead, Black Mirror and Watchmen, while the partnership with Reznor continued on Bird Box (2019), the animated fiim Soul, followed by Mank in 2020, Bones and All in 2021, Empire of Light in 2022, The Killer in 2023 and Challengers in 2024. For their part, the Ross brothers work with Nick Chuba on the TV series Shōgun, for the two episodes released in 2024.
