Sam Sadigursky, born April 17, 1979, in Los Angeles, California, is a saxophonist, clarinetist, flutist, and composer. Raised by classically trained musicians from the former Soviet Union, he began playing saxophone at age 11 and clarinet at 15. In high school, Sadigursky received multiple awards, including the John Coltrane Young Artist Award, and performed with notable artists such as Brad Mehldau, Milt Hinton, Charlie Byrd, and Bob Florence. He graduated from William Paterson University in 2001 and released his first album as a leader, The Words Project, in 2007, featuring original musical settings of poetry; it was selected as one of the top ten releases of the year by Steve Smith of Time Out New York. Sadigursky has collaborated with numerous artists across jazz, Latin, and contemporary classical music. He also became a member of the Philip Glass Ensemble in 2020.
