Herbert Knebels Affentheater is a German cabaret group founded in 1988 by Uwe Lyko, alias Herbert Knebel. The initial lineup included Susanne Betancor and other members who later left the group. By 1990, the core formation consisted of Uwe Lyko (Herbert Knebel, vocals/guitar), Martin Breuer (Ernst Pichl, bass), Detlef Hinze (der Trainer, drums), and Sigi Domke (guitar). Their first stage performance was in 1988. In 1990, they released their second program "Wir präsentieren Euch einen." The following year, Sigi Domke left the group and was replaced by Georg Göbel-Jakobi alias Ozzy Ostermann. Herbert Knebels Affentheater signed with Sony Music in 1995, re-releasing their CD Getz aber in Echt under the new label. Their seventh program, "Knebel on the Rocks," premiered in 1998 and was followed by subsequent programs, including "Unter Strom" (2001), "Nix wie weg" (December 2005), and "Love is in sie Er" (Autumn 2008).
