Hubert Winter, born in 1966 in Mainz, Germany, is a jazz musician and professor. He studied at the Hermann-Zilcher-Konservatorium Würzburg, followed by scholarships at Berklee College of Music and New School in New York. Winter began leading his own quartet in 1992 and toured internationally. He also played as a duo with Michael Wollny on the album Different Kinds of Stories (2003), and collaborated with notable musicians such as Bert Joris, Richie Beirach, Antonio Faraò, Randy Brecker, Louis Banks, and Tony Lakatos. Winter has also been a member of the Sunday Night Orchestra and has played in various big bands. In 2011, he became a professor at the Würzburg University of Music. His achievements include winning the First Prize at the international composition competition of the German Talent Exchange in 1987 and receiving the Bavarian Art Promotion Prize in 2002.
