The Playtones, a Swedish rock 'n' roll band, formed in 2008 in Kallinge. Initially known as Boppin' Steve & The Playtones, the group gained prominence playing 1950s-style rock and roll with influences from rockabilly. Their breakthrough came in 2009 when they won the dansband competition Dansbandskampen. In 2011, The Playtones appeared in Melodifestivalen, the Swedish preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. The band released their debut album Rock'n'Roll Dance Party in 2010, followed by Rock'n Roll is King in 2011, and Rock the Road in 2012. Subsequent albums include In the Mood (2013), Rockabilly Sunset (2014), and It's Alright (2015). The band consists of Stefan Jonasson on vocals and piano, Johan Svensson on drums, Mattias Schertell on double bass and electric bass, and Jonas Holmberg on guitar.
