Pavel Berman is a Russian violinist and conductor born on January 13, 1970, in Moscow. He is the son of the musicians Lazar Berman and Valentina Berman. He studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory under Igor Bezrodnyi before continuing his instruction at the Juilliard School with Isaac Stern and Dorothy DeLay. In 1990, Berman received the gold medal and first prize at the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. He performed as a soloist and conductor with ensembles including the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and the RAI National Symphony Orchestra. In 1998, he established the Kaunas Chamber Orchestra in Lithuania, which later became the Kaunas Symphony Orchestra. His discography included the recording Prokofiev: Violin Concertos Nos. 1 & 2 - Sonata for 2 Violins in C Major, Op. 56 (2010). Berman served as a professor at the Conservatory of Southern Switzerland and the Academy Lorenzo Perosi.
