Hagen Rether, born in 1969 in Bucharest, Romania, is a German cabaret artist and pianist. He spent his early childhood in Bucharest and Sibiu before moving to Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, in 1973. He began playing the piano at the age of eight and studied at the Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen. He worked as a pianist for Ludger Stratmann from 1996 to 2005. In 2003, he debuted with his own program Liebe. His performances include political commentary on topics such as religion, media, capitalism, and globalization. He received numerous awards, including the Deutscher Kleinkunstpreis in 2008 and the Deutscher Kabarettpreis in 2010. His discography includes the albums Liebe (2005), Liebe zwei (2007), Liebe 3 (2010), Liebe 4 (2012), Liebe fünf (2014), Liebe 6 (2016), and Liebe 7 (2018).
