Per Grundén, born May 23, 1922, in Eskilstuna, Sweden, was a Swedish operatic tenor. He studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm under Joseph Hislop and made his operatic debut in 1945 at Stora Teatern in Göteborg as Sporting Life in Porgy and Bess. Grundén performed at Stora Teatern until 1949, when he moved to the Oscar-Theater in Stockholm to continue his career as an operetta singer. He also sang at the Royal Opera in Stockholm and was a guest artist at the Vienna Volksoper and Vienna State Opera from 1953 to 1963, performing roles such as Danilo in Die lustige Witwe and Sou-Chong in Das Land des Lächelns. Grundén was appointed Kammersänger in 1958. He transitioned into buffo roles later in his career. Grundén passed away in Trosa, Sweden, on February 6, 2011.
