Family 5 is a German soul-punk band based in Düsseldorf, founded in 1981 by Xao Seffcheque and Peter Hein. The group released their first single "Bring deinen Körper auf die Party" that year. After performing at a festival in Munich, the band solidified its lineup and signed with Teldec. Family 5's debut album Resistance (1985) blended punk, pop, beat, and soul. The band disbanded in 1991 when Hein left to join Fehlfarben, but reunited for concerts in 1994 and released the single "Vor, vor, Fortuna" in 1997. Family 5 released subsequent albums, including Wege zum Ruhm (2004) and the compilation Hunde, wollt ihr ewig leben? (2012), with notable performances such as a concert during the Eurovision Song Contest 2011.
