Marc-Uwe Kling, born in 1982 in Stuttgart, is a German singer-songwriter, cabaret artist, director, and author. He studied philosophy and drama at Freie Universität Berlin and began performing on various stages in Berlin in 2003. Kling's career took off with his program Wenn alle Stricke reißen, kann man sich nicht mal mehr aufhängen in 2005, which is also the title of his first album that was released in 2008. He is also known for hosting the weekly podcast Neues vom Känguru and organizing literary events such as Lesedüne and poetry slams. In addition to his musical work, Marc-Uwe Kling has authored several books, including Die Känguru-Chroniken in 2009 and the comedic dystopian novel QualityLand in 2017, which was adapted into a series by HBO.
