Hans Deinzer, born on January 14, 1934 in Rothenbruck, Germany, was a notable clarinetist. He studied at the Städtisches Konservatorium of Nuremberg from 1949 to 1955 and later under Rudolf Gall in Munich until 1962. Deinzer performed with the Nürnberger Symphoniker and the Sinfonieorchester des Norddeutschen Rundfunks in Hamburg. He was an early adopter of rubber mouthpieces in Germany and advocated for historically informed performance practices, recording two versions of Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto using a reconstructed historical clarinet made of boxwood. Notable premieres include Pierre Boulez's Domaines and Henri Pousseur's Madrigal I. Deinzer taught at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover for thirty years, retiring in 1996. He received two Grand Prix du disque awards from the Académie Charles-Cros. Deinzer passed away on February 26, 2020.
