Ensemble Aventure is a German music ensemble founded in 1986 in Freiburg. The group emerged from the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg and consists of instrumentalists who perform in varying configurations. Their repertoire spans works from the Second Viennese School, New York School, and Darmstädter Schule, as well as Dada, Fluxus, pieces by overlooked composers, and new compositions. The ensemble's debut concert featured Edgar Varèse’s Octandre, an instrumentation for which they commissioned numerous works. They have performed several hundred premieres and received invitations to international festivals since the early 1990s, touring extensively in East Asia, Europe, and Latin America. Their Freiburg concert series began in 1991. The ensemble received multiple awards, including the Regio-Musikpreis (1995), two German Record Critics' Awards (1996, 1998), two grants from the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation (1996, 2011), and a prize from the Kulturstiftung der Länder (2006). Wolfgang Rüdiger served as artistic director until 2022, when a three-person team took over.
