Vorkriegsjugend, a German hardcore punk band from Berlin-Kreuzberg, West Berlin, was formed in 1982. The group consisted of notable members such as Klaus Hicker on vocals, Michael Weindl on guitar, Jürgen Heiland on drums, and Markus Noack on bass. In 1983, they released their debut double 7" record Heute Spass, Morgen Tod and their self-titled album in 1984; its front cover painting was notably done by Lisa Deanne Smith (pseudonym Lisa Bat).. The band's lineup changed in 1984 to include Thomas Rickert on bass and Sepp Ehrensberger on second guitar. Vorkriegsjugend disbanded in 1985. In 1998, drummer Jürgen Heiland reformed the band as the sole original member, releasing the EP Widerstand dem Teutonenland (1998). The band disbanded again in 1999. In 2003, Weird System Records released Wir sind die Ratten, a remastered compilation of their earlier works.
