The Tryp, a band from Austria, was formed in 1999 in Salzburg by singer Eva Maria Reiter (alias Reeva), producer Thomas Pühringer (alias Tom Pi), and later drummer Florian Bärthlein. The band's name was derived from the English word "trip." Between 1999 and 2002, they released three self-produced albums: The Tryp (1999), oo (2001), and ...in mind... (2002). Their breakthrough came with "Guider", which was featured on FM4's Hot Rotation and led to support gigs and an FM4-Soundpark tour across Austria. In 2003, Reeva left for a solo career under Virgin Records, and Tom Pi recruited Priska Schwarz. The resulting album Human Animal (2003) did not meet expectations. Reeva rejoined in late 2004, and they released the album Magnetic Storm in 2005 via Huge Music Entertainment.
