Stewart Sukuma, born Luis Pereira in 1963 in Cuamba, Niassa, Mozambique, is a singer. He has sung in multiple languages, including Portuguese, English, Swahili, Echwabo, and Xitsonga, and has been recognized as one of Mozambique's most popular male vocalists. After moving to Maputo in 1977, Sukuma learned percussion instruments, guitar, and piano. His breakthrough came in 1982 when he won the Ngoma Mozambique award for best performance, leading to the release of his first song "Musica Quente" with Formacao 82. Sukuma's early career included collaborations with notable musicians such as Hortencio Langa and Alexandre Langa, and performances at local bars and nightclubs. In 1997, he released Afrikiti, a significant album recorded in South Africa with notable musicians including Hugh Masekela and George Lee.
