Pedro Guzmán Valentín, known as Pedrito Guzmán, born on November 18, 1956, in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico. He began his musical journey at nine with the guitar and later joined the Tuna de la Escuela Secundaria while singing in local churches. By thirteen, he performed on the radio with the duo "Hermanitos Guzmán" and studied guitar and bass. In 1970, Guzmán played the cuatro with Rey Rivera's orchestra Algodón de Azúcar and later joined salsa orchestras like Sonata 2000 and La Creación. He has also worked as a jazz bassist and has toured internationally. In 1987, he launched his solo career with the project Jíbaro Jazz, blending traditional Puerto Rican music with jazz. Notably, in November 2012, he performed at the DR Jazz Festival alongside other prominent Caribbean musicians.
