Marko Vuorenheimo, known professionally as Signmark, was born on June 26, 1978, in Helsinki, Finland. As a rapper and sign language lecturer, he began his career with the group Sulava DJ and MC Mahtotapa before transitioning to a solo career in May 2009. Initially, Signmark chose hip-hop for its vibrant bass sounds that could be felt by those who are deaf. In 2006, the group released an album titled Signmark, which included a song "Our Life" in English and American Sign Language, gaining international recognition. The following year, Signmark signed with Warner Music as a solo artist and released his debut single, "Smells Like Victory", in 2009. His first solo album, Breaking the Rules, was launched in 2010, featuring videos in American Sign Language for each track. He was honored with the Outstanding Young Person of the World award by the Junior Chamber International in 2009.
