Kurt Dahlke, known professionally as Pyrolator, was born on April 29, 1958, and is a German musician from Düsseldorf. In 1978, Dahlke co-founded the band D.A.F., but left the group in 1979 to join Der Plan and Fehlfarben. That same year, he began his solo work under the name Pyrolator with the release of Inland, an experimental album incorporating field recordings and harsh electronica. In 1981, Dahlke released Ausland, which featured collaborations with Ata Tak-associated artists. His subsequent albums include Pyrolator's Wunderland (1984), a more melodic effort, and Home-Taping is Killing Music (1985). Throughout his career, Dahlke has collaborated with various artists and worked on numerous film scores.
