Wakey!Wakey!, an adult alternative band from Brooklyn, New York, was formed in 2007 by Michael Grubbs. Grubbs, born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, began his musical journey at age five under the tutelage of his mother. His early influences ranged from classical composers to contemporary artists like Billy Joel and Led Zeppelin. Wakey!Wakey!'s initial breakthrough came with their 2010 release Almost Everything I Wish I'd Said the Last Time I Saw You..., which reached Number 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart. The band gained further recognition when "War Sweater" was featured in the finale of One Tree Hill's sixth season, leading to cameo appearances by Grubbs as himself on the show. Wakey!Wakey! signed with the Family Records and later with The End Records, releasing notable albums such as Salvation (2014) and Overreactivist (2016).
