Japanese indie music collective, Mili, established in August 2012, comprises Cassie Wei (vocals), Yamato Kasai (composer/guitarist), Yukihito Mitomo (bass), Shoto Yoshida (drums), and Ao Fujimori (artwork/animation). Drawing its name from the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, Dear Mili, the group’s musical scope spans electronic classical, contemporary classical, and post-classical genres, embracing languages like Japanese, English, Chinese, and French in their songs. Their debut album, Mag Mell, released on September 17, 2014, through Saihate Records, charted at number 21 on the Japanese Billboard charts was followed by Miracle Milk, which arrived in October 2016, peaking at number 9. Continuing their charting streak, their six-track mini-album titled Hue (2017) reached number 21 which they followed with third album Millennium Mother (2018), securing the 12th position. Apart from their original tracks, Mili has contributed music, lyrics, and songs to various media, including rhythm games like Cytus and Deemo, and titles such as Library of Ruina, Limbus Company, Mahoyaku, ENDER LILIES, as well as commercials, and collaborations with other artists. Between 2018 and 2022, Mili released several top 30 non-album singles, including hits like “Rightfully” (2018), "Ame to Taieki to Nioi/Static" (雨と体液と匂い/Static) (2020), “Iron Lotus” (2021), and “Sideshow Duckling” (2022). Their next album Key Ingredient dropped on June 3, 2022, along with a separate instrumental version and in 2023, the group returned with 4-track EP titled Between Two Worlds in March, followed by the single “Compass” in December, which gained popularity in China, reaching number 13 on the charts.
