Big Nuz was a South African Kwaito trio from Durban, founded in 2002 by Mandla Maphumulo (a.k.a. Mampintsha), Mzi (a.k.a. Danger) and Sbu (a.k.a. R Mashesha). The group moved to Johannesburg to secure a recording contract. Their debut album Zozo, released in 2006, did not achieve significant success. In 2008, they signed with Afrotainment and released 2nd Round Knockout, which sold over 20,000 copies and featured the hit single "Ubala". The album won the Metro FM Best Kwaito Award. Big Nuz continued their success with platinum albums like Undisputed (2009) and Pound for Pound (2011). In 2015, they released For the Fans, dedicated to R Mashesha who passed away on the album's release date. Big Nuz returned in 2022 with their seventh studio album R Mashesha. Mandla Maphumulo died from a stroke in 2022.
