Jürgen Jürgens, born on October 5, 1925, in Frankfurt, Germany, was a choir director. He studied at the conservatory of Frankfurt with Kurt Thomas and later at Freiburg with Konrad Lechner. In 1955, Jürgen Jürgens founded the Monteverdi-Chor Hamburg, focusing on works by Claudio Monteverdi. The choir performed extensively across Europe and the United States and participated in the integral recording project of Bach's cantatas with the Leonhardt-Consort for Telefunken/Teldec. Notable recordings include Heinrich Schütz's Lukas-Passion / Die Sieben Worte (1965) and Anton Bruckner’s Music of the St. Florian Period 1845-1855 (1985). Jürgen Jürgens passed away on August 4, 1994, in Hamburg.
