Hole In The Wall, a Norwegian country rock band, was initiated in 1971 in Bergen by Erik Moll and Rune Walle. Their debut album, Hole in the Wall (1972), blended American country music, traditional folk, psychedelia, and rock'n'roll. The band's innovative sound drew comparisons to acts like Fairport Convention, Grateful Dead, and Buffalo Springfield. The first lineup was based on a group of hippies living in a collective in Bergen. After reorganizing in 1972, the band split by 1973. Moll went to the United States and joined the Happy Valley String Band (1974–77). He returned to Norway in 1978 to form a new Hole In The Wall lineup, releasing their second album, Rose of Barcelona. Rune Walle was later recruited to the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. The band formed a third edition with new material, but no record companies invested, and Hole In The Wall disbanded permanently after this final iteration.
