The Monofones, a music trio from Bern, Switzerland, was formed in 2007 by of Matthias Hämmerly on guitar and vocals and Michael Laubacher on drums. Hämmerly and Laubacher met during their studies at the Hochschule der Künste Bern. The Monofones released their debut album Limited in 2008 on Subversiv Records, followed by Deranged in 2009. Their third album, Superhits!, was released in 2012 and the fourth album, Nuts, came out in 2015. The band's fifth album, Fröm Höll, released in 2018, featured cover songs from bands that influenced Hämmerly's musical journey.
