Born at the height of the grunge era, Sevendust made a name for themselves by word-of-mouth, taking their debut album from confidential release to gold status, thanks in no small part to the energy displayed on stage by members Lajon Witherspoon (vocals), John Connolly, Clint Lowery (guitars), Vince Hornsby (bass) and Morgan Rose (drums). Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, where they were formed in 1994, this alternative metal band signed to TVT Records took part in a number of festivals in the wake of their debut album Sevendust (1997), and produced the Live and Loud video (1998), before reaching number 19 on the Billboard 200 with Home (1999), featuring contributions from singer Skin (Skunk Anansie) and Chino Moreno (Deftones). Programmed at the 1999 Woodstock Festival, he recorded "Fall" for the Scream 3 film soundtrack, and followed this up with the albums Animosity (#28, 2001), Seasons (#14, 2003), Next (#20, 2005) and Alpha (#14, 2007), with a string of Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts. In 2008, one of them, "The Past", from the album Chapter VII: Hope & Sorrow (No. 19), featured Chris Daughtry, lead singer of the band's namesake. Returning after Sonny Mayo's interim stint (2005-2008), guitarist Clint Lowery takes part in the recording of Cold Day Memory (2010), which reaches No. 12. Sevendust's popularity continues unabated with albums such as Black Out the Sun (2013), No. 18 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the hard rock chart, as does the following Times, Travelers & Bonfires (No. 19 in 2014). Taken from Kill the Flaw (2015), ranked #13, the track "Thank You" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. The following albums All I See Is War (#28 in 2018) and Blood & Stone (#55 in 2020) are followed by Truth Killer in 2023 and One in 2026.
