Lee Marrow was born on September 25, 1960, in Italy. He is an Italian DJ, producer, and songwriter who is considered part of the European Italo disco and Eurodance scene of the 1980s and early 1990s. His real name is Mauro Farina. Starting in the early 1980s, he worked in northern Italy as a producer and studio musician in the Euro-disco production scene. In 1984, he founded the Lee Marrow project, one of the best-known studio projects in the Italian dance scene. The project collaborated with a rotating cast of singers and studio musicians. Musically, Lee Marrow’s sound spans Italo disco, Euro disco, and early Eurodance. The sound is characterized by synthesizers, drum machines, and catchy choruses. In 1986, “Shanghai” was released, one of the project’s early well-known tracks. The song was played in the European club scene and brought the project international attention. In 1988, the single “Do You Want Me” followed, garnering attention on several dance charts across Europe. In 1989, “To Go Crazy” was released, further solidifying the stylistic shift toward Eurodance. Further productions followed in the early 1990s, including “Mr. Fantasy” (1990) and “Please Don’t Go” (1992), which were primarily distributed in club and compilation formats.
