The Houghton Weavers, an English folk music band, originated in Westhoughton, Greater Manchester. The group was formed in 1975 by Norman Prince, John Oliver, Denis Littler, David Littler, and Tony Berry. Their early repertoire included English folk music, often performed in a Lancashire dialect. Notable songs include "The Blackpool Belle" and "The Lion Of Vienna". The band was also known for their BBC TV show Sit Thi Deawn, which combined music and comedy for a local audience. In 2014, lead singer Tony Berry was diagnosed with throat cancer but recovered to continue performing. Berry died in June 2019.
