Leonardo di Lernia, known professionally as Leone di Lernia, was born on April 18, 1938, in Trani, Italy. Lernia was a radio host, singer, and composer known for work in the trash-demented genre. In 1968, he recorded his first single, “Trenta Chili / Andiamo nei Cieli”. During the 1970s, Lernia released singles including “Gaccia ad'avè / Spuosatiella Geuvè” (1975). He gained national popularity in the 1990s through the radio program Fausto Terenzi Show and parodic covers of dance hits, such as “Ra Ri Ri Ra Ra Ra, Pesce Fritto e Baccalà” (1991). Lernia was a comic shoulder on the program Lo Zoo di 105. Albums include Gran Barhouse – Il Meglio di... Leone di Lernia (1991) and Leonemania (1994). Lernia died on February 28, 2017, in Milan.
