The Gävle Symphony Orchestra, a symphonic orchestra based in Gävle, Sweden, was founded in 1912 and gave its first concert in January of that year. Initially performing at the Gävle theatre and Mariners' Church, the orchestra moved to the purpose-built Gävle Konserthus in 1998. Jaime Martín served as the principal conductor from 2013 until 2022, with his tenure extended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Notable recordings include works by Oskar Lindberg and Franz Berwald, as well as live performances featuring composers like Grieg and Shostakovich. The orchestra has had several principal conductors over its history, including Ruben Liljefors, Ludvig Mowinckel, and Christian Reif, who began his tenure in 2023.
