Robert Alexander Scobey Jr. (December 9, 1916 – June 12, 1963) was an American jazz trumpet player of traditional and Dixieland music from Tucumcari, New Mexico. After performing in dance orchestras during the 1930s, Scobey joined the Yerba Buena Jazz Band in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II between 1942 and 1946. In 1949, Scobey formed Bob Scobey's Frisco Band, featuring banjoist and vocalist Clancy Hayes. The group recorded over 200 tracks for labels including Good Time Jazz and held residencies at Victor & Roxie’s in Oakland (1950–1953) and Rancho Grande. Scobey performed with Louis Armstrong in 1953 and toured with Lizzie Miles from 1954 to 1957. In 1957, he recorded the album Bing with a Beat with Bing Crosby. In 1959, he opened the club Bourbon Street in Chicago and toured the United States. Scobey died of cancer in Montreal, Canada.
