Mark Warren Spoelstra, born on June 30, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, was an American singer-songwriter known for his contributions to folk music. He began his career in Los Angeles during his teens and moved to New York City, participating in the folk music revival of the early 1960s. He performed with Bob Dylan and contributed to Broadside magazine. His notable albums include The Songs of Mark Spoelstra with Twelve-String Guitar (1963) and Mark Spoelstra: Five & Twenty Questions (1965). He later embraced Christianity and became a minister, recording two gospel albums. After retiring from music in the early 1980s, he returned to recording with Out of My Hands (2001) for Origin Jazz Library. He died on February 24, 2007.
