Suni Paz is an Argentinian singer-songwriter, folklorist, and educator born on August 13, 1935. She performs within the nueva canción movement and specializes in folk and children's music. Paz began playing guitar and writing songs at age 12. Between 1960 and 1963, she lived in Chile before relocating to California in 1967. In the United States, she designed school curricula to present Latin American culture through song and dance. Paz released her debut studio album, Brotando del Silencio - Breaking Out of the Silence, in 1973. Her recording career includes albums such as Entre Hermanas (1977), Bandera Mía (2007), and Tú eres mi flor (2018). She utilizes indigenous instruments including the charango and bombo. In 2003, she received the Magic Penny Award, followed by a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 2020.
