Frank Macchia, born on October 12, 1958, is an American composer, arranger, multi-reed player, and saxophonist. He began playing clarinet at age 10 and later studied bassoon, saxophone, and flute, starting to compose jazz and classical music pieces at 14. In 1976, Macchia attended Berklee College of Music, where he studied woodwinds and composition. From 1981 to 1992, Macchia lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, composing and performing with his own ensembles. His early albums include Introducing Frankie Maximum (1989). After touring Europe with productions of West Side Story and 42nd Street, Macchia moved to Burbank, California, and began composing for television and film. He worked on over 300 productions, including orchestration for films like Your Highness and Transformers. From 1992 to 2010, he created music for The Tonight Show band.
