Anton Steck, born in 1965 near Freudenstadt, Germany, is a violinist and conductor specializing in Baroque and classical music. He studied modern violin under Jörg-Wolfgang Jahn in Karlsruhe and Baroque violin with Reinhard Goebel in Cologne. Steck served as concertmaster for Musica Antiqua Köln and Les Musiciens du Louvre, participating in over 30 CD productions. In 1996, he co-founded the Schuppanzigh Quartett, where he was the first violinist. Notable recordings include 6 Sonatas for Violin and Viola with 5 Overture Suites with Johann Christoph Schmidt. Joseph Haydn and Christian Goosses and Steck's work, including recordings of Mozart’s KV 55–60 sonatas, has been recognized with several international awards. In 2000, he began teaching at the National Academy of Music Trossingen.
