Revolution Renaissance was a multinational metal band founded in 2008 by guitarist Timo Tolkki following his departure from Stratovarius. The band's debut album, New Era, released in 2008, featured collaborations with Michael Kiske, Pasi Rantanen, and Tobias Sammet. After the positive reception of New Era, Tolkki assembled a permanent lineup including Gus Monsanto (vocals), Bruno Agra (drums), Mike Khalilov (keyboards), and Justin Biggs (bass). In June 2008, Revolution Renaissance signed a four-album deal with JVC Victor for Southeast Asia. Their second album, Age of Aquarius, was released in 2009. Following the release, Tolkki replaced Biggs and Khalilov with Magnus Rosén (bass) and Bob Katsionis (keyboards), respectively. The band's album, Trinity, was released in 2010. Revolution Renaissance disbanded later that year due to personal issues faced by Timo Tolkki and the challenging music industry climate.
