Santiago Henriquez Jiménez, known professionally as Santiago Jiménez Jr., was born on April 8, 1944. He is an American accordionist specializing in traditional and world music. Jiménez began a musical journey at a young age, recording a first album with his brother Flaco Jiménez at age 17. His work featured traditional conjunto music formulas with accordion, guitar, and vocals. In 2000, Jiménez received a National Heritage Fellowship for his contributions to traditional Tex-Mex/folk music. He was awarded the 2015 National Medal of Arts in 2016 by President Obama. Albums include Still Kicking (2021).
