Sportsguitar, a Swiss rock band formed in Lucerne in 1993, was centered around singer and guitarist Oliver Obert and guitarist Roland Saum. Their debut album, Fade / Cliché, was self-released in 1994, followed by Married, 3 Kids in 1997 and Happy Already in 1998, both under Matador Records. Saum left the band after their third album. Sportsguitar continued with releases such as Surface (2000) and Cicadas Chirping (2003), on Glow Music and Tudor Records, respectively. The band's lo-fi sound, inspired by acts like Pavement and Television, garnered them attention on the indie scene. Notable singles include "He's So Funny" (1995) and "Right On" (1997).
