Youth Brigade, an American hardcore punk band from Hollywood, Los Angeles, was formed in 1980 by brothers Mark Stern on drums, Adam Stern on bass, and Shawn Stern on guitar and vocals. The band's early years were marked by their involvement with the Better Youth Organization (BYO), which they founded to promote punk rock shows and produce music. The compilation album, Someone Got Their Head Kicked In, was released in 1982, followed by their debut LP, Sound & Fury, in 1983. The band embarked on extensive tours, including a notable 30-city North American tour with Social Distortion. Youth Brigade's lineup changed over the years, with bassist Bob Gnarly replacing Adam Stern for the recording of The Dividing Line (released as The Brigade) in 1986. After a hiatus, the band reunited in 1991 and released several albums, including Happy Hour (1994) and To Sell the Truth (1996).
