Luis Albert Segura, known professionally as L.A., was a Spanish rock musician born in Mallorca. He began his music career in 1994 as a drummer for The Green Cherries and later joined Glycerine, with whom he released two albums. In the early 2000s, Segura collaborated with Los Valendas and The Nash before launching his solo project L.A. in 2004. Under his own label Dreamville Records, L.A. released three albums: Grey Coloured Melodies (2004), Bellflower Blvd. (2005), and Welcome Halloween (2006). The band's breakthrough came with the release of Heavenly Hell in 2009, followed by notable works such as Slnt Flm EP (2012) and Dualize (2013). L.A. gained significant traction with albums like From the City to the Ocean Side (2015), which featured collaborations with Kyle Krone and Matt Wignall, and King of Beasts (2017), marking a return to Segura's roots in Mallorca. The band embarked on extensive tours, including the Ocean Tour in 2016 and performances at major festivals like Festival Internacional de Benicasim and Low Festival. In October 2018, L.A. announced an indefinite hiatus but returned in September 2020 with plans to release Evergreen Oak in May 2021.
