Die Bergkameraden is a German music group from the traditional folk music and Schlager genres, formed in 2007 by Cornelius von der Heyden. The band consists of six singers who are former members of the Regensburg Cathedral Choir and the Tölz Boys' Choir. Their breakthrough came in 2008 when they secured second place at the Alpen Grand Prix as the best German contribution. Die Bergkameraden collaborated with singer Oswald Sattler to win the German pre-selection for the Grand Prix der Volksmusik with "Ich träume von der Heimat" (2009). They released their debut album, Montana Libre, which included this notable track. The band continued to achieve success, placing third at the Grand Prix der Volksmusik in Vienna with "Cantata di montagna" (2010) and winning the Herbert Roth Prize from MDR (2011). In 2012, they signed a record deal with Telamo and were distributed by Sony Music.
