Powder Monkeys was an Australian punk and indie rock band formed in Melbourne in 1991. The group consisted of Tim Hemensley on bass guitar and lead vocals, John Nolan on lead guitar, Adyn Hibberd on rhythm guitar and vocals, Timmy Jack Ray on drums, and Jed Sayers on harmonica. Their debut single, "Yin Yang", was released in February 1993 on Dog Meat Records. The band's first album, Smashed on a Knee, followed in March 1994. Their second album, Time Wounds all Heels, was released in February 1996. In 1999, they released the live album Blood Sweat & Beers. In 2000, they released their third studio album, Lost City Blues. The band broke up in 2002. Hemensley died on July 21, 2003, of a heroin overdose. A posthumous compilation album, Outta Control Rock'n'Roll, was released in 2005.
