Halma, a German rock band formed in 2000 in Hamburg, quickly distinguished themselves with an unconventional approach to song structures. The group, consisting of Fiona McKenzie, Andreas Voss, Gundi Voigt, and Thorsten Carstens, released their debut album Container Verloren Und Gesunken in 2000. Halma's music evolved from improvisational sessions, blending electronic influences with traditional rock instrumentation. Their second album, Minifield, followed in 2003, marking a significant step in their career. In 2007, the band composed the score for the film Der andere Junge, directed by Volker Einrauch, which won awards at various festivals. Halma continued to release albums, including Back To Pascal (2006), Broad Peak (2008), Dissolved Solids (2011), and Driving by Numbers in 2024.
