UK artist HOLT’s latest single, Midlife, explores the idea of slipping imperceptibly into the grip of a stage of life, a state of being, which is neither planned nor welcome. Midlife is HOLT's fourth single from her upcoming album. The lead single The Storm - a banger balm for the soul as much as a call to the dancefloor – was followed by further singles Safeguard and Distractions.
HOLT is a London-based artist and multi-instrumentalist who crafts otherworldly tunes by blending her layered vocals with electronic beats and cinematic soundscapes. Picking up the piano, flute, guitar, and violin independently, her songwriting journey kick-started with a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder gifted on her seventh birthday. Her music draws from a diverse palette of influences: the artistry of Bjork, Bat for Lashes, and Enya; the rhythms of Massive Attack and Nils Frahm; and the stark simplicity of Philip Glass and Max Richter. Echoing the infectious electronic pop of artists like Roisin Murphy and Alison Goldfrapp, HOLT layers direct yet intimate vocals against deep basslines and banger beats in her latest project.
