Patricia Mary O'Callaghan, born on October 2, 1970 in Dryden, Ontario, is a Canadian soprano known for her work in contemporary opera and early 20th-century cabaret music. Her journey into music began with training as an opera singer after deciding to combine her teenage aspirations of becoming either a rockstar or a nun. O'Callaghan's first recording was Youkali (1997), featuring songs by Kurt Weill, Erik Satie, and Francis Poulenc. She followed this with Slow Fox (1999), which included "Hallelujah", the first of her many notable interpretations of Leonard Cohen’s song. O'Callaghan released several albums including Real Emotional Girl (2001) and Naked Beauty (2004). Her career gained significant momentum with the release of Broken Hearts & Madmen (2011), a collaboration with the Gryphon Trio, and Matador: The Songs of Leonard Cohen (2012). O'Callaghan's work has been recognized for its depth and respectful homage to Cohen’s music.
