Monsters of Folk was an American supergroup formed in 2004, consisting of Jim James from My Morning Jacket; Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis from Bright Eyes; Will Johnson, solo artist and member of Centro-matic; and M. Ward, solo artist and half of She & Him. The band originated when the members were on tour with their respective bands and solo projects, leading to collaborations both on-stage and backstage. Their debut album, Monsters of Folk, was released on September 20, 2009, through Shangri-La Records. It debuted at number 143 on the Billboard 200 and peaked at number 15. Notable songs from the album include "Baby Boomer" and "His Master's Voice", featured in the soundtrack of the film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The group performed at Neil Young’s twenty-third annual Bridge School Benefit on October 23 and 24, 2009. On June 14, 2024, the album Monsters of Folk was reissued with five bonus tracks, including the singles "Disappeared" and "Museum Guard".
