Katerine Avgoustakis, born in 1983 in Maasmechelen, Belgium, is a Belgian singer of Greek descent. She began her musical journey as part of the band Indiana in 2002, participating in the national final for the Eurovision Song Contest with "Imitation Love". Avgoustakis gained prominence after winning Star Academy Flanders in 2005, securing a record contract with Universal Music Belgium. Her debut single "New Day" reached number 2 on the Belgian UltraTop 50 chart and was certified gold. She released her self-titled debut album Katerine in 2005. In 2006, Avgoustakis won TMF Awards for Best Pop Music National and Best Female Artist National. Her international breakthrough came with "Ayo Technology", which topped the Polish charts as a Number 1 hit and won the International Hit Summer Sopot Hit Festival in 2009.
