Redzone was formed in London, England, by Ami Wilson and Justin Gagen, both of whom handled vocals, guitar, and production duties. The duo first gained attention with the MP3 web singles "Torrid" / "Crime of Passion" and "Layer6" / "Body Craves" in 1998, followed by the album Modified in 1999 on Phasechange Recordings. In 2005 they issued Digital Flesh, an interactive CD‑ROM release, and in 2008 followed with Abstract Revolution. The band’s White Sun DVD and soundtrack album appeared in 2008 and 2010, respectively, while the single "Film Noir" was issued on 27 May 2010. From 2011 onward, Redzone focused on improvisational live work, releasing the Ultrastructure EP series (Volumes I–III) and albums such as Gathering of the Tribes, Venus Smiles, Eject and Survive, The Breeding Station, and Einfangen. They toured in virtual worlds, notably performing in Second Life in February 2007 and curating the Mayday Mayhem Festival that same year. In 2015 and 2016 they produced Noise Ocean and Cracked using the Internet Audio Cyclotron. Ami Wilson’s solo projects, I Hear You (2018) and Ergot in The Wine (2019), were released under the name Kassia Flux. Ami Wilson died on 25 March 2020 after a prolonged illness.
