Mickey Meyer Myron Katz, known as Mickey Katz, was born on June 15, 1909, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a musician and comedian who began his musical journey at the age of eleven when he received an old clarinet from his high school bandmaster. Katz's early career included playing with Phil Spitalny’s band and Doc Whipple's big band before moving to New York City in 1929. In 1946, Katz met Spike Jones and joined his band as a "glugger," providing musical throat sounds. He left the band in 1947 to pursue his comedy records, releasing "Haim afen Range" (based on "Home on the Range") and "Yiddish Square Dance", which sold out quickly. Katz continued with parodies like "Tickle, Tickle" and "Chloya". Katz passed away on April 30, 1985.
