Pitch Black are a New Zealand electronica duo from Auckland who met in 1996. Their debut album Futureproof was released in August 1998 and topped the New Zealand electronic charts. In September 2000, they followed with Electronomicon, which sparked a 30‑date tour of New Zealand and Australia. The duo’s third studio effort, Ape to Angel, launched in October 2004, received critical acclaim and led to a 42‑show world tour, including their first US performances. Subsequent releases include Rude Mechanicals (2007), Filtered Senses (2016), and Third Light (2019), each accompanied by remix collections and extensive touring. Their tracks have appeared in films such as Whale Rider and the television series CSI: Miami, and they contributed music and sound design to Metia Interactive’s Cube for the PlayStation Portable.
